Riga, Latvia - Creative Enterprise Futures.

I'm finally back from Latvia after spending ten days coming up with a business idea for the urban regeneration of Riga, writing a business plan, producing a two minute teaser film and having a ten minute presentation of our idea to members of the council, investors and 'experts'. My main role in the group was as the visual artist/creative person. I took control of the filming, photography and the editing of the teaser film. I also helped with the idea generation session and with some of the business plan.Our idea was to create a 'riverside project' which would regenerate the underused potential of the river running through the centre of Riga, connecting the Old town with the new. Our idea to do this was to start an annual river festival which would attract local residents with traditional music, food, drink, water based activities, competitions and exhibitions. Aiming to go more commercial as the festival developed each year.Our idea proved popular with the council and we have sent them our business plan and ideas.Over the ten days we visited a number of sites that had been regenerated, some that hadn't and some that were in the process of being developed.We visited one area which was now a furniture show room developed from an old warehouse. It was beautiful so I decided to take a few photographs:I'm in the process of developing my own studio space and I thought these pictures were very inspiring.I'll be updating again about the architecture of the city and more about our business plan soon.xo.
