At the seaside

I recently took a trip to Llandudno and was inspired by the nostalgic feel of the pier. I took some fuji instax prints as well as some digital photographs which I edited afterwards using Photoscape editing software. I've just been playing with layering images, vignetting, using different 'film' effects, contrast/saturation of colours, textures and adding liner gradients.  (Some worked better than others)The last one isn't great because I still haven't learnt how to layer images properly and smoothly yet, but you can get a sense of where I want to go with it. I love playing with the different filters to produce darker, uneasy images to show the bittersweet memories I have connected with the place. I deliberatly tried to convey a sense of isolation when I was composing the photographs to contrast it with earlier childhood images I have at this place. When I was manipulating these photographs in photoscape I was generally inspired by Wendy Bevan's work in her personal album - 'Beach '06-'09) Here are a few examples:Wendy is a fashion photographer but uses Polaroids and film to convey a different sense of time. You can see more of her work here.
