Retrospective Photography | Irina Werning - 'Back to the Future'

I came across the work of Irina Werning on the New Yorker website today and felt an instant connection with her series 'Back to the future' were an old photograph from the past is retaken in the same location, wearing the same clothes only many years on. The vintage series of photographs are often incredibly poignant and allow the viewer to look back in retrospect on their lives and see just how much has changed or in some cases see what hasn't.The series highlights the transience of youth and by situating the two seemingly identical photographs next to each other we are transported back in time to when the original photograph was taken. To view Irina Werning's other work you can visit her website below:http://irinawerning.com/back-to-the-fut/back-to-the-future/irinawerning.com
