Maggie Ayres is an artist who continues to inspire my work and I love her combination of mixed media art and textiles. Her artworks contain numerous layers of colour, texture, light and contrast.

"[She] creates unique artwork, using a variety of materials, including hand painted silks, applied fibres, photographic images, dyed velvets, stitching and found objects such as driftwood and sea-glass.Her artwork explores the ranges of emotion that continually overlap and pull in all directions. She seeks to express her conflict between the desire to please and be all things to all people, and a backlash against that need to conform to expectations."
