'Dear Photograph': A Series of Retrospective Photographs

Today I'd like to share with you one of my favourite new websites: www.dearphotograph.com. It is a super sweet blog documenting a series of photographs submitted by its readers. I'm (slowly) beginning research for my dissertation topic  and I'm looking at the different ways photography has changed in the digital age as well as looking at how it can be used as a form of therapy. (v.v. early days yet)See here for further information on this topic - http://thecreativediarist.com/2010/11/13/experimenting-with-image-transfers-phototherapy/The description of the website is fairly simple: 'take a photograph of the past in the present'. The juxtaposition of recent photographs taken at the same location as an older photo is beautiful and provokes so many nostalgic memories of everything that has changed and everything that has stayed the same. The website is only one month old but has become a huge success after receiving notable press. You can submit your own 'dear photographs' hereI also have some exciting news to share with you, Jodi from Living Life Photographically has agreed to let me write a brand new guest post for her this week and she's also going to be having some other awesome ladies guest posting for her so keep a look out for that.I've been a huge fan of Jodi's work for almost a year now and had the pleasure of interviewing her in February. If you missed it you can check it out again here - http://thecreativediarist.com/2011/02/23/feb-11-interview-with-jodi-lebrun-from-living-life-photographically/I'll also be updating again this week about a new project I'm working on!Till next time!xo.
