Alt. Photography & Mixed Media Portrait Series.
I'm slowly beginning work on a new series of mixed media portraits using a technique to transfer images on to different surfaces using a gel medium. A tutorial of this can be found here - Gel Medium Transfer TutorialThe subject of the work is focusing on the transience of youth.
My brother is the subject and I'm hoping to produce a portrait for each member of my family. I started by taking a series of photographs and selecting one to edit, print out and then photocopy A3 size which was then transferred on to canvas using a gel medium.
It's a slow process and I've already made a few mistakes by rubbing off the backing paper too hard. When i've got the first part right I'm hoping to incorporate stitch into it similar to a previous project which you can view here:http://thecreativediarist.com/2011/03/17/inspired-by-lotus-peles-chen/
