Dare to Wear: Glass Dresses by Diana Dias-Leáo

Dare to Wear by Diana Dias-LeáoWalker Art Gallery, Liverpool.

I went to see these pieces at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and absolutly fell in love with these dresses and the concept behind them.Diana Dias-Leáo has combined glass making skills with her experience of working in the fashion industry to create an original collection of glass dresses and barbed wire corsets. She is inspired by the way people interact with one another alone, as part of a couple or in a crowd and she likes to explore themes of isolation and interaction by using the human form with or without the second social skin of garments. She also explore issues around beauty and body image.

"Anorexia, Bulimia, Self Harm and Body Dysmorphic Disorder are on the increase and are connected in some way with aspects relating to image and lack of confidence."
